Rare 19th C decanter set in Boulle marquetry box with black wood sides and back. Gilt bronze feet. The interior of the lid is heightened with brass and the fitted interior is in mahogany and bronze. Secrétaire droit à abattant en marqueterie BOULLE XIXe
Sublime secrétaire à abattant en marqueterie BOULLE avec écaille de tortue particulièrement lumineuse. Epoque XIXe Ce secrétaire a un abattant qui ouvre sur un théatre en loupe comprenant une niche et 3 tiroirs ( un grand et 2 petits) Le cuir refait est fauve ré-haussé d'or. L'abattant est un vrai abattant et non pas des tiroirs en trompe l'oeil. Sous l'abattant se trouvent 4 tiroirs. Le plateau est en marbre de Carrare blanc ( à noter une marque d'eau en cercle) Le décor sur l'abattant représente une énorme vasque remplie de fleurs et feuillages avec de chaque coté un ange adossé. Les bronzes sont sobres avec des cariatides à motifs de fleurs qui s'harmonisent parfaitement avec le thème de la marqueterie. L'écaille de tortue est bien rouge et lumineuse. Le travail de marqueterie Boulle avec l'écaille de tortue et le laiton recouvre les 4 tiroirs, l'abattant, les cotés et toute la doucine du haut sous le marbre. Ce secrétaire est très élégant! SECRETAIRE IN BOULLE MARQUETRY
19th C secretaire in Boulle marquetry. Particulary large for the period, very probably made to measure. The three upper drawers are in trompe l'oeil and form a drop-leaf with a fitted interior in rosewood comprising a compartment with a shelf and two large drawers. New black leather writing surface with gilt edging and central shield. There are four real drawers under the drop-leaf. The front of the secretaire is in tortoise shell and brass marquetry and the sides and upper crossband in black fruitwood. High quality bronzeware, white marble top (with hair line crack). 17th C CABINET IN BOULLE MARQUETRY
17th C cabinet on stand in Boulle marquetry comprising multiple drawers in tortoise-shell. The lower part comprises a large frieze drawer under a leather covered removable leaf (quite rare), a lower tier with ivory inlay and spiral legs, typical of the 17th C. The drawer opens to form a writing surface covered in the same leather as the removable leaf. The upper part comprises the cabinet with its nine drawers (8 small and a double drawer on the lower right) and its central door with small interior drawers. The three point lock and key work.
